Making the world a better place

Today I had such a fantastic day! I had two fascinating conversations with people that I met on LinkedIn. The first chat was about how to make the Portfolio, Programme Management and Project Management space more effective and streamlined, and the second was a chat called ‘One Golden Nugget’ – which was about the one thing that stands out for me in life – that one phrase that changes everything.

I realized that even though we are going through some pretty severe and challenging times, people out there are still trying to make a difference. It was not the first time that this has caught my attention over the last couple of months. Since I became more active on LinkedIn, it has been amazing to see how people yearn for positivity. It is also fulfilling to see so many people reacting positively to inspirational posts. It is commendable, really.

In any case, back to my chance encounters today. Mark demoed his company’s software to me. It is designed to provide an ecosystem for your programmes. And as I said to Mark when he described the promised land to me: ‘show me’… He did, and I have to say, I was impressed. Very few software packages to manage projects with caters for programme management at that level. There has everything from mail, chat, document management, reporting, and workflow to pretty pictures and some decent logic to it all rolled into one ecosystem.

Work smarter with Fluid

I have to admit, I want it. I would love to manage my portfolio with it. So, Mark here’s to hoping! It may even work well for small/medium consulting firms – perhaps a tad cost-prohibitive. Probably the most appealing thing about FlowState is that it is methodology agnostic. For those who don’t know me, I am very ‘specific methodology’ averse… I firmly believe that delivery is not dependent on a methodology, a framework or principles. Those are guidelines. Delivery is dependent on solid logic, proper planning and a dedicated team to deliver.

And then when I thought my day couldn’t get any better, I had a chat with Steven about his fantastic venture. Steven explained that he started collecting these golden nuggets from CEOs and Founders of successful organisations which then became a book (for which you had to be selected out of thousands of applicants). How cool is that – you get to be published in a book because of the one thing that you have learnt that stands out for you in life. It was such a success that Steven is busy working on the second book. And I will be featured in it! Exciting times!

One Golden Nugget

Over and above the books, Steven is creating a universe where these nuggets can live. It is set to go live in 11 days and 3 hours. I will leave it to the website and Steven to reveal. Go visit https://onegoldennugget.com/. I am also not going to share my nugget with you – but watch this space, I will let you know when it goes live and gets published. In closing, I have experienced how COVID-19 has united the world. For the first time in the history of anyone alive today. Well almost – excluding people who are older than 102 years of age. It is the one thing that has subjected us to the same fate. One thing has united us in living through lockdown across most of the world, and one thing will remind us in years to come, that we are all human. We all bleed red, we are all born and will eventually die.  Stay Safe has become the phrase that anyone you speak to understand. Let’s hope and dream together. May humans be human again!
