That’s what I call inspiration

So, here I am. I never planned or even intended to end up here, but that is what life is all about, I suppose. I am not complaining, but here seems very different from what I imagined it to be.

Did I mention passions? Yes, many. I love traveling the globe and experiencing new things, I love spending time with my family – in nature, scuba diving or just being. From time to time, I will take up a new hobby until I get the hang of it, at which point another item piques my interest. I am Tanya, I have a family I love, pets I adore, passions that drive me, and a full-time job that keeps me busy. I push boundaries. My husband maintains that I am never truly satisfied unless I am going 400 miles an hour with my hair on fire.

I am blessed with the ability to solve problems, which comes in handy in the Portfolio and Programme management field. When I am faced with a challenge, I can see the starting point, the endpoint, and the steps that need to be followed to get to the end. Plans B, C, and D pop up as and when required, and changing tac mid-stride comes naturally.

I enjoy the process of delivering complex transformational programs from start to finish, but what I enjoy even more is creating high-performance teams. Taking that team that is coming up short, the team member who is voted most likely to nosedive, or the project that is miserably failing, and then turning it around to where it has achieved the unthinkable, success!

So why that, you may ask? It is not taking the broken team and putting them back together piece by piece. It is not solving the proverbial puzzle, and in truth, it is not about the moment when you achieve a ‘high-performance team’ status. Along the journey, there is that one moment where the light switches on. People no longer follows you because they have nothing to lose, they are no longer following you because you offer hope in an untenable situation, they are no longer following you because it is not as bad as it used to be or because you are chasing the goal with direction and confidence. It is that one minute when someone decides to follow you because the goal becomes their goal, and the cause becomes their cause. That is the moment that it all falls into place.

And that is what I call inspiration.

Welcome to my blog.
